Suspensions and injuries have added to Ammar Souayah and Espérance’s woes as the team prepares to meet Étoile du Sahel for their last group stage game in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup. Defenders Iheb Mbarki and Chamseddine Dhaouadi, suspended, and midfielder Elyes Jelassi, injured, have been ruled out for the game at Stade Olympique de Sousse. Samuel Emem Eduok’s injury and late return from Nigeria are most likely to shut him out from Tunisia’s African derby.
The too many departures and new unregistered arrivals during the current summer transfer market have already left the new Espérance coach with limited tactical choices.
It is true that the game will have no incidence on Espérance’s standing in the group, Tunisia’s giants having lost any hope of qualifying to the semi-finals, but the players who will be handed starts will strive to do their best to prove their worth and be in the good books of their recently appointed coach with a view to the kickoff of the 2015/2016 soccer league season, Ligue 1, Espérance's new target.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 8 pm local time.
