Et en espérant que les prochaines recrues soient à la hauteur de nos attentes.

Par contre cette équipe nigériane de sunshine est impressionnante, et a démontré en seconde mi-temps qu'elle possède un potentiel énorme. Rarement une équipe pouvait tenir la dragée haute à l'Espérance aux derniers moments d'un match ; apparemment (au début de la rencontre) ils leurs manquaient une certaine cohésion, mais qui s'est améliorée au fil des minutes. Ainsi, cette équipe aura une marge de progression supérieure, et il est donc impératif d'y tenir compte au match retour.
Quant à Chlef, et contre toute attente, elle a manqué de maturité et de métier, surtout en seconde mi-temps, par contre l'Etoile était nettement meilleure en seconde mi-temps que lors de la catastrophique 1ère mi-temps, et n'eut été ce but libérateur contre le courant du jeu, la domination de Chlef la majorité du temps, aurait pu changer la physionomie de la rencontre.
Concernant El Ahly et Mazembe, ce fut une rencontre spectaculaire, avec une victoire méritée d'El Ahly du Caire, quoique la partie a été faussée en partie par l'habituelle jeu dur (à la limite de l'antijeu) de la part de Mazembe.
Pour ce qui d'Ezzamelek contre Berekum Chealsea (Ghana) le score de parité aurait été plus logique. Ezzamelek est en mesure de se réhabiliter.

takliasd [désolé] je ne partage pas ton avis , mais ne fut ce relachement des notres en fin de partie alors qu'il se voyait deja la partie en poche et a la fatigue du tres long voyage les nigerians ne nous auraient pas inquieté plus que ça .

No Sunshine for Stars against Esperance

Sunshine Stars lost 2-0 to Tunisian team Esperance in their opening Group A game of the Caf Champions League on Sunday at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode.

Goals from Youssef Msakni and Yannik Ndjeunk were all that the defending champions needed to triumph over Nigeria's lone representatives in this year's tournament.

Sunshine Stars went into the encounter hoping to start on a good footing and showed intent in the early stages of the game.

However, they went down to an Msakni goal on 20 minutes after he was put through by Ghanaian left back Harrison Afful.

Msakni was to turn creator later on as he put through Cameroonian Ndjeunk to score the second goal in added minute of the first half.

Esperance now lead Group A on goals difference after Etoile du Sahel defeated ASO Chief of Algeria 1-0 earlier.

Esperance beats Sunshine Stars at home

NIGERIAN football fans were left rooted to their seats yesterday when Tunisian club, Esperance, taught Sunshine Stars of Akure the rudiments of the game at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode.

Sunshine Stars came into the game hoping to use the home game to stake its claim for a semi-final slot in the CAF Champions League, but the team got a rude shock when Esperance hit it 2-0 and even threatened more goals in the encounter watched by top officials of the Ondo State Government.

The win gives Esperance leadership of the group with three points, same with another Tunisian side, Etoile, which defeated Aso Chlef of Algeria 1-0 over the weekend.

Esperance dominated the first half during which it scored its two goals, while Sunshine came into the game in the second half but could not do anything to the tactically aware Tunisians, whose goalkeeper, Ben Charif, had a fantastic day. The defending champions took the lead in the 20th minute through Youssef Msakni, who put away a tantalizing cross by Ghanaian Harrison Afful.

The Akure team could have drawn level shortly after, but for the post, which pushed back Osas Idehen's effort. Esperance doubled lead in first half stoppage time when Camerounian striker Yannick Ndjeng controlled the ball in the Sunshine box before firing beyond the diving goalkeeper Moses Ocheje.

Before then, Ocheje had to make a reflex save in the 39th minute to keep out the Tunisians. In the second half, Sunshine posted an improved performance, fighting back in search of goals, but goalkeeper Cherifa pulled off big saves in the 81st and 87th minutes.

Sunshine's substitute Dele Olorundare was denied by the post on 67 minutes, with Cherifa already well beaten. Speaking after the game, Esperance described the victory as a morale boost, which has put it in good stead to qualify for the semi-final.

"It was a good game, we did our best and took our chances," Harrison Afful said. "The victory has put us in good mood to excel in the group. We will take the game as they come. This has been won and lost, we will go back to Tunisia and start preparing for the next game."

Cherifa said it was a sweet victory for them as they look forward to defend the trophy they won last year: "We came here to play and win and that we did. We want to retain the trophy and this is a good step towards that," he declared.

In the second round of matches to be played in the weekend of July 20 and 21, Esperance will be home to Aso Chlef of Algeria, while Etoile welcomes Sunshine Stars.

Nightmare start for Sunshine

Sunshine Stars got their CAF Champions League group phase chase off to the worst possible start, crumbling 0-2 at home to champions Esperance on Sunday.

First half goals from Msakni Youssef and Cameroonian Ndjeng Joseph Yannick proved decisive.

Stars coach Gbenga Ogunbote spent much of the pre-match build up talking up the importance of opening with a win.

It took all of 15 minutes for all that to evaporate. Youssef found himself unmarked at the back post as a low cross evaded the badly-positioned Sunshine back line.

The tap in could not have been any simpler.

Sunshine pushed forward in a desperate search to draw level before the break, only to see their adventure punished ruthlessly with literally the last kick of the half.

Yannick let fly with a superb curling effort from distance that Moses Ocheje failed to reach despite straining every sinew in his full length stretch.

Dele Olorundare hit the post in the second half but by then, the Tunisians were coasting, and for the last half hour, they were playing keep ball, to the frustration of their hosts.

Ogunbote still found a way to put a positive spin on the situation.

"We conceded two quick goals because we gave our opponents too much respect. Hopefully, we are going to work on our shortcomings before our next game," he said.

"It's not over for us and we are looking forward to a better performance in our next match against Etoile."

D'après les prédispositions des autres clubs, selon des comparaisons purement footballistiques de maniement du ballon, de qualités techniques et d'aptitudes physiques ; ce club nigérian est un finaliste potentiel, surtout s'il rencontre Mazembe en demi-finale.
Par contre, il s'agit de rappeler que l'Espérance a fourni un match très honorable et un volume de jeu très performant face, de le rappeler avec certitude, à cette valeureuse équipe nigériane ; même en tenant compte des aléas et des contraintes rencontrés par l'Espérance.

Belle victoire d'Al Ahly contre le Tout Pourri Mazembe. En dépit de l'égalisation des Congolais due á une bévue monumentale du gardien égyptien Ikrami, les Ahlaouis ont su comment arracher la victoire dans les toutes dernières minutes de la partie. Ces deux équipes demeurent de sérieux concurrents de Taraji. Il convient de signaler l'expulsion du défenseur central du Tout Pourri Mazembe qui a essayé de mettre hors d'etat de nuire le sympathique Aboutrika. L'arbitre a bien fait de lui brandir le carton rouge. A mon avis, le joueur congolais devra écoper d'au moins 3 ou 4 matchs de suspension.

Esperance take advantage at Sunshine Stars

Defending champions Esperance of Tunisia moved to the top of Group A in the CAF Champions League after a 2-0 win away to Nigeria's Sunshine Stars on Sunday.

Esperance now lead their group after the first round of games after local rivals Etoile du Sahel also won 1-0 at Aso Chlef of Algeria on Saturday.

In the second round of matches to be played between 20 and 21 July, Esperance will be home to Aso Chlef of Algeria, while Etoile welcome Sunshine Stars.

The perennial Tunisian champions said they took their chances to win in Nigeria. "It was a good game, we did our best and took our chances," said Harrison Afful. "The victory has put us in good mood to excel in the group. We will take the games as they come."

Goalkeeper Moez Ben Cherifia said they hope to defend the trophy they won last year. "We came here to play and win and that we did. We want to retain the trophy and this is a good step towards that," he declared.

Esperance dominated the first 45 minutes and scored two well-taken goals. However, after the interval Sunshine improved only to be denied by the brilliance of Esperance goalkeeper Ben Cherifia and the post.

Esperance went in front in the 20th minute through Tunisian star Youssef Msakni, who tucked away a superb low cross from the right by the lively Ghanaian international Afful. Sunshine would have drawn level almost immediately, but Osas Idehen's effort from inside the Esperance goal area came off the post.

The Tunisians doubled their lead in first-half injury time when big Cameroonian forward Yannick Ndjeng controlled the ball at the top of the area before firing beyond the diving goalkeeper Moses Ocheje. Before then, Ocheje had to make a reflex save in the 39th minute to keep out the Tunisians.

In the second half, Sunshine fought back in search of goals, but Esperance goalkeeper Ben Cherifia pulled off big saves in the 81st and 87th minutes. Sunshine substitute Dele Olorundare was denied by the post on 67 minutes with Ben Cherifa well beaten.

Title holders, Esperance of Tunisia defeated debutants, Sunshine Stars 2-0 in Group A tie of the Caf Champions League at Dipo Dina stadium, Ijebu Ode on Sunday.

The Tunisian champions now top the group on superior goals after compatriots, Etoile de Sahel defeated its Algerian opposites, AS Chlef 1-0 in Algeria.

The North African side took the game to their hosts right from the blast of the whistle, showed maturity, confidence and clearly in full control of the ball.

Their domination of the game, at least, in the first 20 minutes was not in doubt and it was a matter of time for them to record an opening goal.

Their efforts were rewarded in the 20th minute when Msakni Youssef tapped in the goal beyond the reach of Sunshine Stars' goal keeper, Moses Ocheje.

Sunshine response was rapid but what would have been a clear equaliser from Godfrey Oboabona's set piece in the 22nd minutes was not well converted by striker, Azuka Izu as his shot hit the upright.

The Nigerian side intensified the search for goal but it was the visitors that profited from the attacks as Ndjeng Joseph Yannick rallied his side to the second goal in the 45th minutes ending the first half 45 at 2-0.

Sunshine pulled out Osas Idehen for Olorundare at resumption of play still asking the question but met a stubborn and unyielding Tunisian side backline.

Ajani Ibrahim, Dayo Ojo, Azuka and Olorundare efforts for goal did not yield any dividend as most of their shots either hit the upright or stopped by the Tunisian goalkeeper who stood out to keep a clean slate.

It was a good second half efforts for the Nigerian side unfortunately it did nothing to help them from suffering first home defeat.

The nation's African competition survivors' next game is at Etoile de Sahel of Tunisia.

SUNSHINE Stars were yesterday humiliated by Esperance of Tunisia at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode in Group A match of CAF Champions League.

The defending champions, Esperance won by 2-0 with goals from Msakni Yousef and Ndjeng Joseph Yannick in the 17th and 44th minutes respectively.

Centre referee, Gasama Bakary ignored penalty appeal by Sunshine Stars in the 35th minute when Izu Azuka was brought down in the 28-yard box.

Sunshine dominated the second half with Ajani Ibrahim, Dayo Ojo, Azuka and Dele Olorundare raiding but superb performance Esperance's goalkeeper, Ben Cherifa Moez denied the Nigerian representatives any goal.

Coach Gbenga Odubote blames hard luck for his side's woes. ''We were unlucky today because easy chances which could have ensured we carried the day were sadly missed. You can see the number of our goal efforts which hit the upright, sometimes, you can be that unlucky'' he explained.

Esperance now tops Group A on superior goals after another Tunisian team, Etoile de Sahel defeated Algeria's, AS Chlef 1-0 in Algiers.

Champ League: Esperance down Sunshine

Defending champions of CAF Champions League, Esperance of Tunisia, on Sunday maintained their status as Africa's best club, as they defeated Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure 2-0 in a first group match at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode .

Msakni Youssef scored Esperance's first goal in the 21st minute when he tapped the ball in following a pass from Afful Harrison.

Harrison, who dribbled his way from the right flank, turned Sunshine's defender Isaac Hale Hale inside out and sent a pass across the six yard for an easy tap in for Youssef.

Ndjeng Joseph Yannick netted the second goal for Esperance with a classic volley, which he curved with his left foot into the right corner of the net, leaving Sunshine goalkeepr, Moses Ocheje, who dived full length rolling on the turf.

The first leg group tie, played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, saw the visiting team from Tunisia playing their hosts hands down, as they dominated the encounter from the first minute.

In their usual style, Esperance played the game holding more possession, as Harrison and Mouelhi Khaled provided enough passes for their strikers from the midfield.

Goalkeeper Ben Cherifia Moez was not really tested, though Sunshine strikers, Ibrahim Ajani, Azuka Bobo Izu and Osas Idehen has few chances, which they wasted.

The Nigerian club raised their game in the second half, forcing Esperance to play defensive game, leaving only Yannick and Youssef to attack occasionally. Bobo Izu and Ajani tried to reduce the tally, but their efforts were thwarted by the Tunisian goalkeeper.

The intoduction of Dele Oludare in the second half brought some bite to Sunshine's striking force, as the stocky player hit the cross bar with his first shot at goal.

Sunshine coach, Gbenga Ogunbote told P.M.Sports after the match that he will not lose sleep because of the loss in the first match of the group stage, saying it is a wake up call for his team.

"We have to go back to the drawing board to ensure that we live up to expectation in the remaining matches in this group stage. There is no doubt that losing this first match is a setback for us, but I want to assure our fans that this will be a temporary one. The challenges will be tough, but we'll overcome them," he said.

Coach of the visiting team, Nabil Maaloul said that the 2-0 victory by his team has put Sunshine in a tight corner as the Nigerian team have to win their away matches and ensure that they do not drop point at home in the remaining matches in the group.

"Losing at home has given Sunshine a big problem in the championship. For them to make up, they have to ensure they do not drop point again," he said.

AFRICAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Sunshine Stars fall 0-2 to Esperance

Nigeria's sole representative in Africa's interclub competition, Sunshine Stars of Akure fell 2-0 to reining defending champions, Esperance in Sunday's first CAF Champions League Group A match played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.

The encounter which saw quite a number of football fans, saw the Tunisians taking the lead in the 18th minute through Msakni Youssef.

However, in as much as The Akure Gunners tried to get back to the game by scoring an equaliser, Cameroon import, Ndjeng Joseph Yannick added to Sunshine Stars woes when he curled in a beautiful effort on the dot of 45 minutes to leave the home team trailing 2-0.

Despite efforts by the Coach Gbenga Ogunbote's lads to get back to the game in the second half proved abortive.

The trio of Izu Azuka, Dele Olorundare and Ajani Ibrahim had chances to take Sunshine Stars back into the game but the taller looking Esperance backline stood their ground to hold the home team attack at bay with their goalkeeper also making some vital saves. More so not even the added four minutes added time could change the scoreline.

Speaking in a post-match chat, Ogunbote blamed his players for playing the Tunisians with too much respect.

"We conceded two quick goals because we gave our opponents much respect. Hopefully, we are going to work on our shortcomings before our next game.

It's not over for us and we are looking forward to a better performance against Etiole," he added.

This is the Akure Gunners' second home loss in all CAF inter-club championships since they fell by a lone goal to Club Africain in the semi-final of the 2011 edition of the Confederations Cup.

Sunshine Stars sunk by Esperance, as Ahly beat Mazembe

Defending champions Esperance of Tunisia got their Group A campaign off to the perfect start when beating hosts Sunshine Stars 2-0 in Nigeria.

Tunisian international Youssef Msakni gave his side the lead shortly before the midway point of the first half.

The visitors took a two-goal lead into the break when Yannick N'Djeng netted on the stroke of half-time.

The win lifts Esperance to the top of Group A, leading compatriots Etoile du Sahel on goal difference.

2007 champions Etoile won 1-0 in Algeria against AS Chlef on Saturday night.

Later on Sunday, Egypt's six-time African champions Al Ahly beat 2010 winners TP Mazembe of DR Congo 2-1 in Group B.

Mohamed 'Gedo' Nagy struck the vital goal in the 90th minute to win the tie and send the Cairo giants second in the table behind Ghana's Berekum Chelsea.

Al Ahly led for long periods after Emad Moteab's 11th-minute goal, only for Mazembe to look as though they had won a point when Mbwana Samata equalised nine minutes from time.

On Saturday, Berekum Chelsea defeated Al Ahly's Cairo rivals Zamalek 3-2 in Accra.

All the sides in the two four-team groups played their opening games of this phase of the competition this weekend, with another five rounds of matches to come.

The group phase of the African Champions League will end on 14-16 September, whereupon the top two teams in each group qualify for the semi-finals.

The winner of November's two-legged final will represent Africa in Fifa's Club World Cup the following month.

Moi je vois al ahly comme premier de leur poule et la seconde place pourra etre disputé entre zamalek ou berekum chealse. franchement le mazembe qui a joué hier sera eliminé en phase de poule meme si mon souhait est qu'on puisse leur rencontré en demi-finale pour leur donné une bonne raclé, comme cela on va montré a la face du monde que la finale perdue en 2010 etait une farce
