After a demanding 24-hour journey via Dubai and Johannesburg, the Blood and Gold finally arrived in Pretoria, ready to take on a decisive challenge in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Unsurprisingly, the long trip required careful management. Upon arrival, the technical staff prioritized recovery, with rest, stretching sessions, and tailored care to help the players overcome fatigue. A light night training session followed, designed to loosen up the squad and restore sharpness ahead of this crucial encounter.

Beyond the physical aspect, the mental factor could prove decisive. And in that regard, Esperance can rely on outstanding support. Despite travel difficulties and long distances, a significant number of fans have made the trip to South Africa, coming from all over the world to stand behind their team. Their unwavering passion and energy could play a vital role in inspiring the players to overturn the narrow first-leg deficit.

For this high-stakes mission, head coach Patrice Beaumelle has selected a squad of 23 players, fully committed to the objective: Memmiche, Debchi, Ben Saïd, Jelassi, Tougaï, Koudhaï, Dräger, Laifi, Ben Hamida, Ben Ali, Keita, Ogbelu, Hadj-Ali, Konaté, Tka, Rafia, Sasse, Maâcha, Diarra, Jabri, Danho, Boualia and Diakité.

Throughout the week, both in Tunis and in Pretoria, the team has shown encouraging signs in terms of fitness, focus, and determination. Although the absence of Chiheb Jebali and Khalil Guenichi due to injury is unfortunate, the depth of the squad offers solid alternatives to face this challenge.

All eyes are now set on the iconic Loftus Versfeld Stadium, where Esperance will attempt to turn their ambitions into reality. The goal is clear: secure a victory and book a place in the continental final. The task is undoubtedly difficult against a strong and experienced Sundowns side, but the Blood and Gold have built their history on resilience and the ability to rise on big occasions.

As kickoff approaches, belief remains strong. With determination on the pitch and passionate support in the stands, Esperance steps into this decisive clash with one mission in mind: to fight, to believe, and to reach the final.
