Esperance Tunis secured a convincing 4-2 victory against AS Soliman this Sunday afternoon at the Rades stadium, in a match counting towards the 17th day of Ligue 1. This win allows the Blood and Gold to regain the top spot in the league table.
A blistering start to the match
From the opening whistle, Esperance displayed unwavering determination, pressing high and imposing their game on their opponents. In the 15th minute, Smiri, well-positioned in the box, attempted a header that grazed the crossbar of AS Soliman's goalkeeper, Hamza Ghanmi.
The opening goal wasn't long in coming. In the 18th minute, Bouchniba delivered a pinpoint cross to Tka who, with an instantaneous strike, surprised the opposing keeper to give his team the lead (1-0). Esperance pushed to extend their advantage, with Belaïli and Sasse proving particularly dangerous (22').
A first half full of twists and turns
However, AS Soliman reacted quickly. On a lightning-fast counter-attack in the 33rd minute, Ghassen Maâtougui outpaced the Blood and Gold defense and beat Memmiche with an unstoppable angled shot (1-1).
Three minutes later, the Blood and Gold went on the offensive again. Belaïli won a penalty after being brought down in the box by Ghanmi. He took the penalty himself, converting it successfully (2-1, 36'). But AS Soliman refused to give up and equalized once more through AmenAllah Majhed, who met a subtle pass from Bruguel (39', 2-2).
Far from being discouraged, the Blood and Gold persisted and found the net again just before halftime. From a deflected shot by Ogbelu, the ball fell to Ben Hamida who, with a powerful strike, restored his team's lead (3-2, 45'+1).
A one-sided second half
After the break, Esperance maintained their relentless pace. Diakité, the Malian recruit, missed a golden opportunity in the 55th minute. Moments later, he hesitated to shoot and saw his chance slip away (58').
The Blood and Gold continued their pressure. Yan Sasse's powerful shot was pushed away with difficulty by Ghanmi (62'). Finally, Esperance sealed the deal in the 68th minute. From a long cross by Konaté, Sasse executed a perfect control, eliminated his marker, and beat the goalkeeper to make it 4-2.
Jelassi had the chance to widen the gap in the 77th minute but missed an unmissable opportunity alone at the far post.
A valuable victory and a regained lead
With this convincing victory, Esperance Tunis fully achieved their objective: to reclaim the top spot in the league.
The players, staff, and supporters can savor this fine victory, which testifies to the attacking power and determination of the Blood and Gold. Next objective: to continue this momentum to consolidate their position as leaders. Well done to everyone!
