Étoile du Sahel and Espérance de Tunis will lock horns in an all-Tunisian 2018 CAF Champions League second-leg quarterfinal clash at the Stade Olympique de Sousse on Friday.

Kick-off is at 6pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).

The hosts will be eager to overturn a 2-1 deficit following defeat to their rivals in Radès this past weekend.

All the goals at the Olympic Stadium on the outskirts of Tunis came from defenders in a weekend were only four goals were scored in four CAF CL quarterfinal games across the African continent.

Chamseddine Dhaouadi fired Espérance ahead after only two minutes before Ammar Jemal equalised to make it all square at the break. Sameh Derbali snatched the 77th-minute winner for the two-time (1994 & 2011) champions.

The narrow win leaves the tie in the balance heading into the match in Sousse with Jemal's away goal in the first leg likely to have a say in the outcome of the match.

Étoile... recorded two wins and a draw in their allotted home fixtures in the group stages.

Victories over Zesco United and Mbabane Swallows were followed by a 1-1 draw against Angolan outfit 1º de Agosto in their most recent match on home soil.

Espérance have been resolute on their travels and kept a clean sheet in all three of their group games away from home. Having held eight-time champions Al Ahly to a goalless draw, Mkachkha beat KCCA 1-0 before holding Township Rollers to a 0-0 stalemate in Gaborone in their most recent away game.

ESS have won Africa's premier club cup competition on one single occasion. Following defeats in both the 2004 and 2005 final, L'Étoile eventually lifted the 2007 crown.

South African referee Victor Gomes will take charge of what is expected to be a tense affair.
