Espérance beat Naft Al-Wassat (1-0)

TAP (adapted) - Espérance Sportive of Tunis beat Iraqi club Naft Al-Wassat 1-0, in an Arab Clubs Championship day-1 match (Group C) held in Alexandria (Egypt)....

The goal of Espérance ST's victory was scored by Taha Yassine Khenissi.

In the group's 2nd day, scheduled for Thursday 27 July, Al Hilal will play Naft Al-Wassat and Esperance ST will take on Al Merreikh.

In addition to Group C, the Arab Club Championship, re-launched this year after four years of interruption, includes two other groups: Group A with Al Ahly (Egypt), Al Fayçali (Jordan), Nasr Hussein Day (Algeria), Al Wahda (United Arab Emirates), and Group B composed of Al Nasr (Saudi Arabia), Al Ahd (Lebanon), Zamalek (Egypt) and FUS Rabat (Morocco).

The first of the three groups and the second best will qualify for the semi-finals scheduled for 2 August and the final is set for 3 August.

The Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) has allocated substantial prizes to the laureates. The winner will receive a premium of approximately $ 2.5 million.
